A victory for Leeds United at home to Hull City tonight (December 10) will see manager Marcelo Bielsa become just the second man to guide the Elland Road club to seven successive victories on two separate occasions, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Marcelo Bielsa won seven games in a row with Leeds back in December last year, but insists he will not celebrate what he refers to as “partial achievements,” if the Whites do pick up three points tonight.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, The Argentinian manager said: “In football every partial achievement, you cannot enjoy it. I think that if there is a difference, we have to show it. There is not a proper time to say we have made a difference, at this moment.”
Despite winning seven games on the bounce and being one of the favourites for promotion last season, Leeds fell away, and were beaten in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Semi Finals by Derby County.
Bielsa refused to say that this season’s team was better than last year’s but did acknowledge one thing.
He said: “There are problems from the last season that now we are solving better, but there are solutions we found last season that we are not finding this season. Last season we scored every four or five chances, this season we need seven or eight.”
“Last year we didn’t have clean sheets like now. This is just an analysis, we cannot say it is going to be a tendency for the future.”
“If there is something we have to learn from the last season, it is not important in part, it is what we get in the end.”
