QPR plan to offer defender a contract to fend off Premier League interest

QPR plan to offer Ryan Manning a new contract.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season but the Championship side are eager to tie him down on a longer deal, as per a report by London Football News.

He has made an impressive start to the season and has been linked with Premier League duo Newcastle United and Southampton over the past couple of days. However, QPR are hoping a new contract will bat away interest from elsewhere.

Manning, who is a former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, has been changed into a left-back by Mark Warburton in this campaign having traditionally been a midfielder and has played in all 11 of QPR’s games in the league this term.

He started his career in Ireland with spells as a youngster at Mervue United and Galway United before he moved to England to join the R’s in January 2015.

Manning had to wait until December the following year before making his senior debut in a Championship fixture against Wolves. He has since made 63 appearances for the London side.

He was loaned out to Rotherham United for the first half of last season and scored four goals in 18 games for the Millers before returning to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium in January.

Getting him on a longer deal will be a major boost for QPR and Manning can be a big player for them in the future if they are able to hold onto his services.
