Ipswich Town on the brink of sealing signing of Colchester United defender

Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert has spoken to the East Anglian Daily Times regarding the imminent signing of Colchester United defender Kane Vincent-Young, who is in the process of completing a medical at Portman Road.

Over the course of the past week or so, Colchester United defender Kane Vincent-Young has been heavily linked with a move to Ipswich Town. Now, the move is close to completion. The two clubs have come to an agreement over a £500,000 fee and Vincent-Young has been at the club to meet Lambert and complete the formalities of the move.

“Hopefully everything goes ok with medicals and the other bits and pieces, so hopefully that goes through,” Lambert said.

“It wasn’t just right-back because there are a few positions where we’re not strong enough. Myles is the only left-back we have and if Kane comes he can play there as well. It’s not his favourite position but we don’t have cover in certain areas.”

Lambert went on to give Tractor Boys fans a hint of what is to come from the Colchester man.

“He’s young, athletic, strong and has played a lot of games after having a good upbringing at Tottenham. If it does happen then we’ve got a really good player.”

The defender made his way into the senior game with Colchester United after being released by Spurs in 2014. becoming a fixture in the side over the course of the past five seasons. In his time in East Anglia, Vincent-Young has played 125 games, scoring four goals and providing five assists in the process.
