Clubs Showing Early Interest in Bialkowski
Wednesday, 15th May 2019 15:48

The Blues have already received interest in keeper Bartosz Bialkowski from a number of Championship clubs but none have yet made an offer for the Polish international.

According to the EADT three clubs have made contact regarding the 31-year-old, who signed a contract which runs to the summer of 2021 last summer with Town having an option for a further season.

We understand that it is the case that clubs have been in touch with the Blues regarding Bialkowski since the end of the season, but with none yet having taken their interest any further than that.

Bialkowski has said on a number of occasions that he is happy at Town and plans to live in Suffolk when he hangs up his gloves, however, it is understood that a move back to the Championship is something the former Southampton man would certainly consider having spent several seasons in League One with Notts County prior to his move to the Blues on a free transfer in the summer of 2014.

The once-capped three-times Town Player of the Year is keen to get himself back in the Poland frame having been their third choice at last summer’s World Cup and playing in League One would give him little hope of a return to international football.

With relegation to League One having cut revenue by £9 million, Town are in a position where they will have to look at any serious offer this summer, however, manager Paul Lambert recently insisted that no one would “go out of here on the cheap, no chance, no chance”.

Last summer Birmingham City made a £3 million offer for Bialkowski, which the Blues rebuffed. However, after the keeper’s disappointing 2018/19, Town would almost certainly have to accept a very much smaller sum if a club formalises their interest before the September 2nd transfer deadline.

Like the rest of his team-mates Bialkowski, who is believed to have become Town’s highest-paid player when he signed his new deal last July, is set to take a significant pay cut due to relegation, with some members of the squad facing reductions of 50-60 per cent, according to former manager Mick McCarthy.

If i was Bart i would be looking to leave; league one football, reduced wage, etc. He needs to be playing at a higher level. Particularly if he has any ambition on playing for Poland again.
Cash in now i say.

A good deal for Bart would be best for both parties. Money in the bank & wages off the docket, while he will be looking to play at a higher level.

I hope it gets done early, so a replacement is in place ASAP. The last thing we want is a protracted saga ala Waghorn.

Good luck to him if he does go. Hope he can refind his best form.

It would be sad to see him go but he's far too good for League One and been a great servant to the club. I think we would've been relegated far sooner had we not had him in goal. Good luck to him.

Inevitable. £1m is probably as good as we can hope for, following a poor season & our relegation. He wants to go & his contract is invariably unrealistic for a Division 1 club. At least there is interest from multiple clubs.

He's going without question but the fee we can command will be low.

Everyone knows the score and the vultures are gathering!

As previously stated we could well have been down before now, it would be a shame to see him go but he has his career to think of I wish him all the best he has been an excellent keeper, it's just a shame that there's no interest in our other 2 over paid donkeys.

Don't contracts mean anything??

Assuming interest in Bart is genuine, then a deal that suits all parties is probably inevitable. If Gerks also leaves, then reinvestment of funds received from any Bart sale will need to ensure we bring in at least one quality replacement. That said, if a deal can't be done, or Bart doesn't fancy what's on offer that justifies relocating his family from Suffolk, then he might yet stay. Less likely, perhaps.

In any event, if he goes then it should be with our thanks and best wishes. A couple of outstanding, reaction, saves towards the end of the Leeds game is what Bart's all about.

£2.5m to £3 m at the very least. He is under contract for another 2 years and if there is a pay clause reduction in his contract then so be it. Not exactly covered himself in glory last season did he!

Shouldn't think he is short of a few quid either!

It's was always on the cards that Bart is likely to be going, sad to see it happen, however there is a shining light of at the end of the tunnel.... Harry Wright needs to be given a go, and theres no better place to do it in league one with Ipswich

Hate to see him go but I am resigned to the fact. £9 million drop in finances for going down, it inevitable that some of the "family silver" will have to be sold.

Would have been devastated last summer, but he has not been himself this past season. We saw what happened with Richard Wright when he left and lost his confidence and more recently with Joe Hart once he lost his place at Man City.

Maybe it is best for both and with or without Gerks, would like to see a veteran keeper come in who could guide our young keepers as we do have a couple of outstanding prospects....one of them is a Wright too ! Speroni maybe? Just been released by Palace and still very decent and incredibly reliable?

A clear case of him wanting to move on and us needing to offload his significant wages. Highly likely he will go.

If he does, best wishes to him, but we will need to sign a new keeper. Gerken isn't good enough in my opinion.

Not difficult to replace based on his form this season.

Too good for League one.....surely thats the point, we must keep our 'too good for league one players' to escape said league one. Dont sell our best players....must add to not replace! Repay faith of 12,000 season tickets and keep our best players, then add some. Bart is one of our best players 👍

Our friends at Carrot Road might fancy him as back-up keeper, and he'd be happy not to have to uproot his family.

BaddowBlue1 added 19:18 - May 15
Expect him to land at Crystal Palace as they have lost a goalkeeper and were keen on him before. Sad to see him go but he has lost confidence in those in front of him as they have in him. We had keeper problems a few years ago mainly because we went via the loan market rather than getting stability from a permanent signing. Stockdale anyone?

Giving a new contract to Gerkin would be a bad move, even the best goalkeeper in the world would have found it difficult to keep behind the dodgiest defence in the championship.Bart must stay.

One of the unintended consequences of we would rather have league one football than the Dinos football.

Toronto_Tractor added 19:58 - May 15
He has ONLY been voted man of the match 9 times this season... in 28 games, which is below his outrageous MoM rate from last season. Anyone that thinks he has not been an absolute life-saving legend the last few years is delusional. Fans are so harsh on keepers these days. He will be sorely missed.
