Leicester have sealed the Championship title with a 3-0 win at Preston North End on Monday night.

The Foxes' place in the top flight was secured last Friday after Leeds lost at QPR, and the team knew that a win would win them the Championship, which they did with aplomb.

Club legend Jamie Vardy scored twice before Kasey McAteer finished from close range to cap off a stress-free evening in what's been a hugely stressful campaign for Leicester.

The 2015/16 Premier League champions were charged with an alleged breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules and while they avoided an immediate points deduction there's a fear they may receive one upon return to the big time.

But right now the feeling will be one of elation for Enzo Maresca's men, who are back in the Premier League at the first time of asking following relegation last term.

The result puts Leicester an unassailable seven points clear at the top of the Championship, with Leeds and Ipswich both joint on 90 points and only having one and two games left of the league season respectively.

Speaking after the victory, Leicester hero Vardy told Sky Sports: "Unbelievable, we knew it was going be a tough game.

"We got the job done, very professional about it. You can see the celebrations with the fans, it's great."

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added: "We've been waiting for this moment all season. You can see the crowd, they deserve this moment because it's been a long season.

"It's been amazing," Conor Coady added on being a part of the team. "The lads deserve everything for getting here, it's an incredible feeling for the football club.

"The main goal was to get back in the Premier League, I think that was common knowledge with everybody. We're here now for the owner, for the manager, for the staff, for everybody at the football club, it's incredible."

Leicester were overwhelming favourites to secure an instant return to the Premier League given the quality and experience in their squad.

At one point it looked as though they would cruise to the title but a spell of bad form made it far from a certainty.

However, despite pressure from Ipswich and Leeds, Leicester returned to winning ways and can now celebrate their latest achievement.

The Foxes host Blackburn Rovers at the King Power Stadium on the final day of the Championship season on Saturday, where a win will see them hit 100 points.

It will also offer them the chance to lift the Championship trophy in front of their fans ahead of their return to the top-flight.
